Macao Special Administrative Region (Chinese: 澳門 特別 行政區), known as Macau (Traditional Chinese: 澳門) (Simplified Chinese: 澳门) is one of two Special Administrative Regions (the second is Hong Kong) subsidiaries of Peoples Republic of China, which occupies a small area (less than 30 square kilometers) is located on the southern coast of China. Macau is considered attractive for tourists to the presence of many of the casinos and the prevalence of gambling and being legally therein. Was a Portuguese colony until December 20, 1999, and has now become a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China.
